Apple launch timelines for mixed-reality headset and other products have been tipped: Gurman

After nearly seven years of development, Apple may just be close to launching its upcoming mixed-reality headset. Now, the mixed-reality headset may be launched at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

Apple Reality Pro launch details

Rumours indicate that Apple has already given the device to high-profile software developers for them to test and work on third-party apps that can be compatible. The operating system that the Apple Reality Pro uses is known as xrOS and is referred to as Borealis within the company.

It is believed that the Apple Reality Pro will be introduced to customers and developers in June. Based on this, the product may go into shipping sometime in August/September of 2023. The Reality Pro has had a few software and hardware kinks which is why the company has pulled in resources from other departments. This has led to speculation that the Apple Reality Pro will be the major launch from the brand this year. Having said that, the company will also be launching this year’s iPhone lineup - the Apple iPhone 15 - and the Macbook lineup in early 2023.

What about the Apple iPad and Apple Watch?

The Apple iPad is less likely to see a major update this year. We may see new updates on the Apple iPad sometime in early 2024 - it is believed that the brand will be replacing the displays with OLED displays. The Apple Watch hardware won’t see a major update either. We may see some minor performance improvements instead.
