American photo and video sharing Meta-owned platform, Instagram along with Facebook has been one of the frontrunners when it comes to making social media safer for its users has made another attempt to make it safer than it is.
Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri announced using a tweet saying that they are expanding Account status, which has already been launched as he announced in the video so that professional accounts can understand if their content is eligible for being recommended to non-followers or not.
Tweet making the announcement -✅ Account Status Update ✅ We're expanding Account Status so professional accounts can understand if their content may be eligible to be recommended to non-followers. Here’s how to get to it: Profile -> Menu -> Settings -> Account -> Account Status pic.twitter.com/QbxjQF06vR
— Adam Mosseri (@mosseri) December 7, 2022There is a simple way of checking this which is going to Account Status under the Accounts section of Settings.
If your account is one of those that does not appear in the ‘Explore’ section, it is probably because it violates the community guidelines around recommended content. If there is a reel showing a fight, it is likely that it will get banned because it depicts violence which goes against the community guidelines.
Increasingly there are a lot of companies and people whose work is dependent on the ‘reach’ they get. With this feature being added on, it shall help them and can even contribute to making their content better.
This new step shall also deal with what a lot of content creators feel may be a problem with their accounts, which is that they might be shadowbanned. It refers to when Instagram bans someone’s account from being viewed by anyone but current followers. Before this step was taken, even the creator did not know whether this account is one of those. But not now!
And in a new development, Instagram reportedly also has plans to show people suggestions from more accounts that a user does not follow to make the social media site more content-creator friendly. To give numbers, they want to more than double the number of suggestions in the ‘Explore’ section by the end of 2023.
