Apple will enter the foldable tech market in 2024; but it won't be the iPhone but the iPad, as stated in CCS Insight's annual predictions report. Apple's launch will be a move against the trend of most other tech brands. CCS Chief of Research Ben Wood says, "Apple would be keen to avoid any technical issues with a folding phone and instead prefer to dip its toes into foldables through a tablet." The logic behind this report is that a folding iPhone would be risky for Apple as it may downgrade the sales of the conventional iPhone.
Apple could launch the folding iPad worth $2,500However, Apple insider and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple could launch a folding iPhone in 2024. Hence, it confirms that Apple will premiere a folding device in two years, either an iPhone or an iPad. Furthermore, the information continues that Apple would price the folding iPhone at least $2,500 so that it's clear of the current top configuration iPhone Pro Max.
CCS's report also added that Apple will introduce its 5G modem in 2025. Apple acquired Intel's modem business in 2019 and is reportedly continuing to develop its in-house modem capabilities. Apple currently relies on Qualcomm's 5G modems, but this launch will allow Apple to integrate its modem into its A-series chipset for a single-chip solution in its devices.
