The popular YouTuber Unbox Therapy has posted a video of early hands-on time with the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Both models of Google's upcoming smartphones were said to be early prototypes, and all that could be seen on the phones was the bootloader screen. In the video, the YouTuber also talked about some of the phones' hardware features and how they were made. For comparison, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were shown along with the Google Pixel 7 series prototypes.
The video suggests that the rear camera module on the next Pixel phones will still be in a horizontal position. The Pixel 7 has two cameras on the back, while the Pixel 7 Pro has three cameras on the back.
The video shows that the Google logo could be put in the middle of the back of both phones. The YouTuber says that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will have a design that looks like a "visor." The video also said that the Pixel 6 Pro is a bit taller and wider than the Pixel 7 Pro. When compared to the Pixel 6, the Pixel 7 is said to be a lot shorter. Google's upcoming phones could have narrower edges than the Pixel 6 series. It is also pointed out that the Pixel 7 series could be thinner than the Pixel 6 series but that the thickness of the back camera module could be the same.
The Pixel 7 Pro shown in the video has 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage space. The Unbox Therapy video shows that the Pixel Pro's bootloader screen also suggests the codename "cheetah EVT1.1." On the other hand, you can see that the Pixel 7 has 8GB of Samsung LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of storage space. The codename of the phone is "panther EVT1.1". Based on the video, the right and left sides of the Pixel 7 Pro could be glossy, while the sides of the Pixel 7 could have a matte finish. According to the YouTuber, both of the phones can also be charged wirelessly.
It is further shown that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have a hole-punch display on the front. The YouTuber said the Pixel 7 Pro could get a hole punch that’s a little bit bigger. The YouTuber also measures the weight of the Pixel 7 phones and notes that the Pixel 7 weighs about 10g less than the Pixel 6, and the Pixel 7 Pro weighs about a gram more than the Pixel 6 Pro.
You may remember that the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro were teased at the keynote event for Google I/O 2022. Both phones are said to be coming out later this year. They are said to run on Android 13 right out of the box and be powered by the next-generation Tensor SoC.
