iPhone SE 4 could be the recycled iPhone XR, suggest the leaked renders

After releasing the third generation of the iPhone SE in 2022, the Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is working on the iPhone SE 4. Churning out information from the rumour mill, the iPhone SE 4 could come out in 2023, and this time, it might get the long-due design overhaul. Fans can expect Apple to remove the Face ID from the upcoming iPhone SE. Instead, follow an all-screen design with the iconic notch on the top. While similar rumours were circulating on the internet before the iPhone SE 3 came out, it is high time Apple made the shift and provided users with a modern iPhone SE.

Tipster leaks renders of the iPhone SE 4

Known tipster Jon Prosser has recently shared some renders of the upcoming iPhone SE 4, and from what it looks like, iPhone SE could be a redesigned iPhone XR. The first thing to notice in the renders is the absence of Touch ID. With that comes an all-screen design with symmetrical bezels on all sides. Further, we can see that the volume rockers, along with the mute switch, are located on the left spine of the frame, while the power button is on the right spine.

Overall, the iPhone SE 4 looks exactly like the iPhone XR, which also means that it could come with a 6.1-inch display, a huge upgrade from the 4.7-inch display iPhone SE 3 has. In addition, since there is no Touch ID, users will get Face ID as a secure option to unlock their devices.

iPhone SE 4 could be a recycled iPhone XR

In the last few years, we have seen Apple relaunching their old smartphones, tablets or even MacBooks with a few tweaks and a new branding that makes the headlines. For instance, the iPhone SE launched in 2018 was a rebranded iPhone 8 with better internals.

The latest version of the iPhone SE, launched in 2022, also comes with the same outer case, screen size and overall design but with a relatively newer chipset. Another example of this approach could be the latest M2 iPad Pro, which is precisely the same as the M1 iPad Pro that came out previously.

That being said, there is no reason why Apple won’t do the same thing with the iPhone SE 4. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone will be a rebranded iPhone XR, but with better specifications that should make it relevant in 2023. If a company is launching a smartphone in 2023, it should support 5G, provide enough power to multitask and last for a day.

While the iPhone SE 2022 can already do that, battery issues aside, Apple will most likely carry forward the A15 Bionic chipset, which is both powerful and battery efficient simultaneously. If that happens, the iPhone SE 4 or the iPhone SE 2023 could very well replace the iPhone 11.
